Why the stock part is absolute pain
BMW designs their intakes to be as quiet as possible for the average consumer, which completely kills the fun. The factory airbox restricts airflow at high RPMs, forcing the turbo to work harder to hit target boost. The MST intake removes this restriction, lowering the wastegate duty cycle. The powder-coated heat shield keeps the hot engine bay air away from the filter, ensuring your Intake Air Temps (IATs) stay icy cold. It’s cheap, it looks sick, and it sounds even better.
