Why the stock part is absolute pain
The pain of the Gen3 platform is that BMW went crazy with security. Flashing is incredibly difficult and expensive. The JB4 bypasses all that drama. It sits entirely outside the DME and gives you multiple maps you can switch on your phone via Bluetooth. Want to run some E30 corn juice? The JB4 can handle it. It reads engine data directly from the CAN-bus to keep things safe. When it’s time to go to the dealership, you unplug it, and the car is back to stock. Easy money!
